What it means

Health is a planogram, not a machine

There is no special "healthy" cabinet. What makes a healthy vending machine is what goes on the trays and the discipline of keeping it that way: biltong and droëwors instead of a wall of chocolate, nuts and trail mixes, high-protein and low-carb options, low-sugar and sugar-free drinks, and a fridge column led by still and sparkling water rather than soda.

That is why we can do it on any machine we sell or rent — and why the hard part is not the hardware. It is choosing stock the audience will actually buy, so the machine earns its floor space. We agree the planogram with you up front, then correct it from real sales data after the first month. What people say they want and what a machine sells at 9pm are not the same list.

The machine itself can be wrapped to your brand or your interior, so it reads as part of your space rather than an advert for somebody else's products — which matters more in a gym or a school than anywhere else.

Built and running

The F45 Durbanville build

This page is not a theory. At F45 Training Durbanville we built a healthy vending machine for judith fresh cafe: a compact Palma Hz70 wrapped to the studio, stocked with premium biltong, nuts, low-sugar drinks and high-protein options, cashless-first because gym members do not carry cash. It sells through the early-morning and late-evening sessions no staffed counter covers — and the best sellers are biltong, droëwors and sugar-free energy drinks, on a weekly restock.

Who it suits

Where healthy vending earns its place

Gyms and studios

The natural home — members arrive already caring about what they eat, and train at hours nobody staffs a counter. More on vending for gyms.

Schools and campuses

A machine that fits a tuckshop policy instead of fighting it — controlled selection, cashless, no sugar-water wall. More on vending for schools.

Wellness-led workplaces

If the company gym and the fruit bowl are policy, the vending machine should not be the exception. More on office vending.

Healthcare sites

Staff and families deserve better than the worst options at 2am. Our Tygerberg installation shows the round-the-clock model.

The hardware

The machines we build it on

Our F45 build runs on the compact Palma Hz70, because studios and staff rooms are tight on space. Where a site wants breadth of choice, the wider CV1000 carries more distinct lines. Both take card, tap and QR.

    Coconut Auto

  • What stands out most is his dedication to finding the root cause of any problem instead of applying a temporary fix. He always makes sure everything is working properly before leaving the site.

    Neil Jacobs, UrbanVend

  • I was looking for a Nayax VPOS machine but my current machine wasn't compatible. A technician came out to test everything first. They helped me avoid spending money on something that wouldn't work and they were transparent about that.

Questions

Healthy vending, honestly answered

What goes into a healthy vending machine?

Whatever the audience will actually buy, chosen against a health-led rule set: biltong and droëwors, nuts and trail mixes, high-protein and low-carb snacks, low-sugar and sugar-free drinks, still and sparkling water. The planogram is agreed with you up front and corrected from real sales data after the first month.

Can we exclude sodas and sweets completely?

Yes. The planogram is yours — a machine can be 100% health-led if that is your policy. Schools and wellness-led employers often run exactly that. We will tell you honestly which substitutions keep the machine earning, because a healthy machine that sells nothing helps nobody.

Do healthy vending machines actually sell enough?

They do where the stock matches the audience — that is the whole trick. At F45 Durbanville the machine is stocked entirely health-led and sells through the early and late sessions no staffed counter covers, because members walk in caring about exactly that — the best sellers there are biltong, droëwors and sugar-free energy drinks. The same planogram in a factory canteen would struggle. We advise honestly on the fit before anything is installed.

What does a healthy vending machine cost?

The same as our standard machines — the health is in the planogram, not the hardware. Self-manage rental from R1 750 per month excluding VAT (R2 013 incl.), full-service rental where we stock and run it, or buy the machine outright. See the pricing page for the full bands.

Do you only install in Cape Town?

Our own technicians install, stock and repair across Cape Town, Stellenbosch and the Western Cape. We deliver machines for purchase across South Africa.

Planning a healthy machine?

Tell us about the space and the crowd — gym, school, office or ward. We'll bring the planogram thinking and a machine that fits the room.
