A vending machine wrapped in Old Khaki branding, dispensing T-shirts at an activation

The challenge

What they needed

Old Khaki wanted a presence at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival that did more than hand out flyers — something festival-goers would queue for, photograph and remember, and that could actually move product on the floor at the CTICC.

What we did

The approach

  1. Designed and wrapped a machine to Old Khaki’s brand rather than adapting an off-the-shelf snack machine.

  2. Reconfigured the internal mechanism to dispense folded apparel reliably — a T-shirt behaves nothing like a chocolate bar on a vending coil.

  3. Handled the full build, delivery, installation and on-site support at the CTICC for the duration of the festival.

  4. Staffed the activation with IVS promoters so there was always someone to explain it and keep it running.

The outcome

What came of it

  • A working, branded apparel machine on a major festival floor — concept to execution by one supplier.
  • Picked up and shared by Old Khaki’s own social channels, which is third-party validation we did not have to buy.
  • Proved that our activation work scales to a flagship venue and a national retail group.
